Former Site of Jiu Da Refined Salt Company

The former site of Jiu Da Refined Salt Company is a cultural heritage conservation unit of Tianjin.

The original building of Jiu Da Refined Salt Company was designed by Zhonghua Xingye Company and built in 1920. It originally functioned as the Tianjin office of Jiu Da Refined Salt Company. In December 1941, after the Japanese military took over the French Concession, the Japanese military police moved into the building. On August 15, 1945, following Japan's surrender, the building remained in use by Jiu Da Refined Salt Company. In 1956, Jiu Da merged with Yongli, and in 1970, it was renamed Tianjin Alkali Plant.

The building faces Huayuan Road to the south, opposite the “Central Park,” borders Chifeng Avenue to the west, and stands across Heping Road from Bohai Building to the north. It covers an area of 2,087.16 square meters with a construction area of 2,242.57 square meters. The structure is a three-story brick-concrete building with a V-shaped floor plan. It features a concrete base, red brick walls adorned with cement band decorations, a flat roof, and a three-bay Ionic-columned portico at the main entrance, topped with a triangular pediment. The building is tall, stately, and imposing, exemplifying French Renaissance architecture. Its current condition is good.
