Former Site of the United States Navy Club

The former site of the United States Navy Club is a cultural relic protection unit in Tianjin.

The former site of the United States Navy Club is located at No. 113 Jiefang North Road. It is a cultural relic protection unit in Tianjin and is classified as a historically significant building under key municipal protection.

Built in 1924 with funding from a British man named Narnis, the former U.S. Navy Club was taken over by the U.S. Navy in 1945. The building included a billiard room, restaurant, and café. In 1947, as calls grew in the United States for troops to return home, the military eventually withdrew.

The original U.S. Navy Club covered an area of approximately 2,400 square meters and was a two-story brick-and-wood structure. Its façade largely retains its original appearance, featuring richly decorated exterior moldings.

The first-floor windows are actually square, topped with large-scale arched decorations and keystone details, with square pilasters set between the windows. A string course separates the first and second floors. The second-floor windows are smaller, each bay divided into two narrow rectangular windows with semi-circular arched tops, lacking keystones but adorned with carved brackets on either side of the arches. The window lintels feature highly ornate and elaborate carvings. Each bay also includes simplified Tuscan-style half-round pilasters.

The former site of the U.S. Navy Club is one of the few entertainment buildings along Jiefang North Road.
