Five Pagodas of Qizhen Temple

The Five Pagodas of Qizhen Temple are a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Address: Luozhen Village, Tangchuan Office, Aojiang Town, Pingyang County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province.

Originally there were five pagodas, but now only four remain. They are arranged in a straight line. The single-eave stone pagodas are hexagonal and built in a wood-like structure style. All four pagodas share the same design, consisting of a base platform, pedestal, body, upper eave, and finial. Currently, the finials of all four pagodas have been destroyed. The base platforms are hexagonal and relatively low; the pedestals are higher and shaped like Sumeru pedestals. The bodies of the pagodas are bulging at the middle and tapering at the top, with a hexagonal plan. They are carved with upturned lotus petals, architraves, and bracket sets. The upper eaves are gently sloped at the bottom and steeply inclined at the top, featuring carved tile ridges, round tile ends, and double-lipped water spouts. The finials have been destroyed.

The Five Pagodas were originally located in front of the liberation pond at Qizhen Temple. When they were relocated to their current site, they were reassembled. They are now relatively well preserved.

On March 16, 2005, they were listed as Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units, and in May 2013, they were included in the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
