Martyrs' Memorial Room of Ye Tingpeng

The Martyrs' Memorial Room of Ye Tingpeng is a classic red tourism attraction.

Ye Tingpeng (1889–1941), also known as Chen Zhixin, was from Yingxue?? Village, Lianchuan Township (now part of Zhenglou Town), Pingyang County. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1926 and organized peasant and salt workers’ militia forces and coordinated with the 13th Red Army in attacks on Pingyang City on three separate occasions—in 1927, 1928, and 1930. In May 1936, he helped establish the Provisional Revolutionary Committee of Southern Zhejiang in Houbao Village, Fengwo, and was elected its secretary. In September, the committee was renamed the Committee of Southern Zhejiang, with Ye continuing to serve as secretary. Later, he rendezvoused with the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army Advance Detachment, led by Liu Ying and Su Yu, at Geteng Lake near the Ruian border. He worked to re-establish contact between the Red Army Advance Detachment and the CPC Shanghai Office (Special Branch), as well as to restore ties between the Provisional Provincial Committee of the CPC in the Fujian-Zhejiang Border Region and the Central Committee. In March 1937, he voluntarily placed the Committee of Southern Zhejiang and the Southern Zhejiang Red Army Guerrilla Forces under the leadership of the Provisional Provincial Committee and the Provincial Military District, assuming the role of member of the Southern Zhejiang Special Committee and head of the Agricultural Movement Department. On November 5, 1941, he was arrested by diehard Kuomintang forces and was executed heroically on November 11.

The Martyrs' Memorial Room of Ye Tingpeng is located in Linbuqiao Village, Zhenglou Town, Pingyang County, and was built in April 1997. The memorial room is a two-story reinforced concrete building consisting of five rooms, and is composed of an exhibition hall, an entrance porch, and a cement-paved courtyard, covering a total area of 838 square meters with a floor space of 336 square meters. In the center of the exhibition hall stands a bust sculpture of Ye Tingpeng, while the surrounding walls display exhibits on his life and achievements, historical materials, and portraits along with brief biographies of 16 revolutionary predecessors, including Liu Ying, Su Yu, Zhu Cheng, Wang Guozhen, Zhang Peinong, and You Fu. Original inscriptions include a plaque reading “Comrade Ye Tingpeng, Elder Statesman of the Southern Zhejiang Peasant Revolution,” written by Xing Zitao, former Secretary of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee and Director of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Party History Committee, as well as calligraphy by Huang Xianhe, former Head of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, and Chen Fu, former President of the Tianjin High People’s Court.

The Martyrs' Memorial Room of Ye Tingpeng is a patriotic education base in Wenzhou City.
