Zhejiang Provincial First Congress of the Communist Party of China Memorial Hall

The Zhejiang Provincial First Congress of the Communist Party of China Memorial Hall is a classic red tourism destination.

In 1939, the First Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Zhejiang Province was held in Fengwo Township, Pingyang. The congress reviewed the work of the CPC in Zhejiang since the start of the War of Resistance against Japan, outlined tasks for the coming period, and passed 11 documents including the "Resolution on the Current Situation of the War of Resistance and the Tasks of the CPC in Zhejiang." A new Zhejiang Provincial Committee was elected, along with Zhejiang delegates and alternate delegates to the 7th National Congress of the CPC. The First Congress of the CPC in Zhejiang Province was the only provincial-level congress convened by the Zhejiang Party organization during the New Democratic Revolution period, and holds significant importance in the history of the Party’s development in Zhejiang. To commemorate this glorious chapter of the First Provincial Congress being held in Pingyang, the Pingyang County Committee and County People's Government of the CPC jointly funded the construction of the Zhejiang Provincial First Congress of the Communist Party of China Memorial Hall.

The Zhejiang Provincial First Congress of the Communist Party of China Memorial Hall is located on the mountainside near the site of the First Provincial Congress in Guanjian Mountain, Fenglin Village, Fengwo Town, Pingyang County. Construction began in December 2006, and the memorial hall was completed and opened to the public on August 3, 2007. The total investment was 2.3 million yuan, with a total floor area of 569.4 square meters, including an exhibition area of 266.7 square meters and a multimedia duty room covering 160 square meters. The exhibition features rich content and a prominent educational theme, vividly showcasing the glorious history from the establishment of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee, through the First Provincial Congress, from the First Provincial Congress to Zhejiang’s liberation, and from liberation to the reform and opening-up era, using methods such as graphic displays and holographic imaging.

The Zhejiang Provincial First Congress of the Communist Party of China Memorial Hall is part of the national red tourism classic site cluster — the Old Revolutionary Base Area of Southern Zhejiang (Pingyang), and serves as a national patriotic education base.
