Pingyang County Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery

Pingyang County Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism site.

From 1927 to 1949, over 1,000 revolutionary martyrs across the county (including Cangnan County) sacrificed their precious lives for the liberation of the people, fearlessly and relentlessly.

Pingyang County Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is situated at Punan Huitou in the county seat, backed by Fengshan Mountain and facing south. In front of the cemetery stands an ancient camphor tree, while behind it there are ponds, pavilions, and towers. Established in 1956, the cemetery covers an area of 1,485 square meters. At its center stands the Revolutionary Martyrs Monument, which is 12 meters tall, topped with a red five-pointed star. The front of the monument is inscribed with the words “Immortal for Sacrificing for the Nation” in vermilion, while the back reads “Immortal for the Martyrs Who Bravely Sacrificed for the People’s Revolutionary Cause.” At the center of the monument lies the tomb of Ye Tingpeng, former Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang South Committee and a martyr. Nearby are the tombs of other martyrs including You Fu, a member of the CPC Wenzhou Independent Branch; Wu Xinzhi, Secretary of the CPC Pingyang County Committee; Chen Bogong, Secretary of the CPC Dingping County Committee; Ouyang Kuan, Acting Secretary; Wu Yu, Deputy Minister of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee; Lin Xinping, District Chief of Guancun in Yixing County, Yixing Anti-Japanese Base in Maoshan; and Zheng Mingde, known as the “Liu Hulan of Southern Zhejiang.” The remains of 192 martyrs who died during the attack on Pingyang City by the 13th Red Army and the peasant Red Guards from Pingyang and Rui’an are also buried here.

Pingyang County Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is a cultural relic protection unit of Pingyang County. It is part of the National Red Tourism Classic Sites — the Old Sites of the Zhejiang South (Pingyang) Revolutionary Base, and serves as a national patriotic education base.
