The Site of the Aofeng Primary School, an activity base of the underground Communist Party in Pingyang, is a cultural tourism attraction.

In May 1930, after the Red Thirteenth Army's unsuccessful attack on Pingyang County, the reactionary Kuomintang brutally suppressed Communists and revolutionary masses, plunging urban and rural Pingyang into turmoil. To persevere in the revolution, in the autumn of that year, progressive youth Chen Fu, following the suggestion of Ye Tingpeng and others, took over the management of Aofeng Primary School in Mabu and became its principal. Since then, the school became an important base for the activities of the underground Communist Party in Pingyang.

After taking over Aofeng Primary School, Chen Fu hired a group of progressive youths as teachers, including Wu Yu, Mei Kang, Zhu Cheng, Huang Xianhe, Wang Yunding, and Chen Weixiang (female). Ye Tingpeng, using the alias "Old Jin," led revolutionary activities while posing as the school’s cook. They taught during the day and, in the evenings, organized night schools for farmers, shop assistants, and women's literacy classes to spread revolutionary ideas and mobilize the masses. They established peasant associations in the Nan’gang, Beigang, and Yishan areas of Pingyang. However, the revolutionary activities at Aofeng Primary School faced fierce opposition from local reactionary forces. In June 1931, reactionary gentry incited thugs and some misled masses to storm the school, forcing Aofeng Primary School to close.

The Site of the Aofeng Primary School, an activity base of the underground Communist Party in Pingyang, is located within Mabu Town Middle School in Xin Qiao Village, Mabu Town, Pingyang County. The site was originally built in the second year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1822), featuring front and rear halls, side rooms, and a stage, covering an original area of over 500 square meters. Only five rear hall rooms remain today. In June 1991, the original site of Aofeng Primary School was rebuilt as Mabu Town Middle School. The People's Government of Pingyang County constructed a revolutionary memorial room nearby, modeled after the original appearance of Aofeng Primary School. The memorial room covers an area of 770 square meters and displays a schematic map of the revolutionary activities at Aofeng Primary School, portraits of martyrs such as Ye Tingpeng and Wu Yu, photocopies of handwritten letters from Zhu De and [name missing] to Zhu Cheng who once taught at the school, as well as memoirs of revolutionary predecessors such as Chen Fu and Huang Xianhe.

The Site of the Aofeng Primary School, an activity base of the underground Communist Party in Pingyang, is a cultural heritage site under the protection of Pingyang County and also serves as a patriotic education base in the county.
