The Site of the Founding of the Southeast Zhejiang Red Army Guerrilla Unit is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism destination.

In March 1932, Communist Party members such as Ye Tingpeng established the Southeast Zhejiang Red Army Guerrilla Unit at the home of Chen Tichang in Fengshantou, Yutang, Mapu Town. Ye Tingpeng served as the unit’s captain, with Huang Xianhe and Xu Yanxia as deputy captains. The guerrilla unit’s base areas were located in Mapu, Yutang, Chaoyangshan, Fenglin, Bao??, and Qianku (now part of Cangnan County) in the Beigang region of Pingyang, as well as Gongyang in Rui’an. Under the leadership of the Southeast Zhejiang Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, the guerrilla unit continued to grow and strengthen. Especially between 1935 and 1936, figures such as Wu Yu, Chen Tiejun, Chen Jichong, Huang Gengfu, Yang Jin, Dong Qiwen, Wang Tairan, Fu Kuangbo, and Zhang Chichang came to Southeast Zhejiang from Beijing, Nanjing, and other places to join the revolution, leading to rapid development of the guerrilla forces. In June 1935, Chen Tiejun was appointed as captain. Thereafter, the guerrilla unit launched multiple proactive offensives against the reactionary rule of the Kuomintang, achieving remarkable military successes. Despite harsh conditions, the Red Army guerrillas continuously struck at the enemy, eliminated threats to the people, boosted public morale, expanded their base areas, and effectively supported the struggles of the Red Army Advance Division and the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party in Min-Zhe Border Region against the Kuomintang’s “encirclement and suppression” campaigns.

In March 1937, the Southeast Zhejiang Red Army Guerrilla Unit came under the command of the Provisional Provincial Military District of the Min-Zhe Border Region and was incorporated into the Red Army Advance Division.

The Site of the Founding of the Southeast Zhejiang Red Army Guerrilla Unit is located at the former residence of Chen Tichang in Fengshantou, Yutang, Mapu Town, Pingyang County. This site consists of two single-story wooden houses with a total floor area of about 40 square meters.

The Site of the Founding of the Southeast Zhejiang Red Army Guerrilla Unit is part of the national classic red tourism site — the Southeast Zhejiang (Pingyang) Revolutionary Base Site Cluster, and is also a national patriotic education base.
