Former Site of the Temporary Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party for the Fujian-Zhejiang Border Region in Fenglin

The Former Site of the Temporary Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party for the Fujian-Zhejiang Border Region in Fenglin is a classic red tourism attraction.

In late August 1937, the Temporary Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party for the Fujian-Zhejiang Border Region signed a peace negotiation agreement with the Office of the Border Region Director of the Kuomintang for the Four Provinces of Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, and Anhui. In late September, Liu Ying led the Temporary Provincial Committee to relocate to Fenglin Village. The Temporary Provincial Committee was stationed in the Liufennei Grand House of Zheng Zhixi in Fenglin Village, while the headquarters of the Temporary Provincial Military District of the Fujian-Zhejiang Border Region was located at the home of Zheng Xuechao in the same area. Due to the many important activities carried out by the Provincial Committee in and around Fenglin, the Liufennei Grand House naturally became the command center for mobilizing and educating the masses, training cadres, and leading the province's anti-Japanese salvation efforts.

In October 1937, after the entire Advance Division was assembled, a general meeting of officers and soldiers regarding the regiment’s reorganization was held in the Liufennei Grand House. The unit was renamed the National Revolutionary Army Fujian-Zhejiang Border Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Detachment, with Su Yu as commander, Liu Ying as political commissar, Chen Tiejun as deputy commander, and Zhang Wenbi as director of the political department. In November, the Provincial Committee held its 12th Expanded Meeting in the Liufennei Grand House. The Meeting conveyed the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party’s “Directive on Work in Southern Guerrilla Zones” and a personal letter from Bo Gu to Liu Ying. Liu Ying and Su Yu each delivered important speeches at the meeting.

The Former Site of the Temporary Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party for the Fujian-Zhejiang Border Region in Fenglin is located in Mannai, Fenglin Village, Fengwo Town, Pingyang County. Fenglin Village is situated in the central part of Fengwo Town, bordered by Fenglin Mountain and Guanjian Mountain to the northeast, and crossed by the Neitang Stream to the south, with large paddy fields along both sides of the stream. It is a mountainous village surrounded by water. The village gets its name from the phoenix-like shape of the mountain behind it and the dense forests at its foot.

The Former Site of the Temporary Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party for the Fujian-Zhejiang Border Region in Fenglin is part of the Zhejiang South (Pingyang) Revolutionary Base Sites Cluster, a national classic red tourism attraction and a national patriotic education base.
