Site of the Former Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in Zhejiang

The Site of the Former Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in Zhejiang is a Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic red tourism attraction.

On May 7, 1938, the first meeting of the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in Zhejiang was held at the home of Zhou Erxin in Yüqingyan Village, Fengwo Township, Pingyang County (now part of Fengwo Town). Five people attended the meeting: Liu Ying, Gu Yuliang, Wang Guanghuan, Long Yue, and Lin Huishan, while Zheng Danfu and Zheng Haixiao were present as non-voting delegates. In accordance with instructions from higher authorities, the meeting decided to dissolve the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in the Fujian-Zhejiang Border Region and establish the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in Zhejiang, with Liu Ying appointed as secretary. On May 12, the committee’s offices were secretly relocated to Wenzhou City. In September, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China approved the Provisional Provincial Committee as the Provincial Committee of Zhejiang.

The Site of the Former Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in Zhejiang is located in Yüqingyan Village, Fengwo Town, Pingyang County. This village is a small mountain settlement in the northwestern part of Pingyang County, situated at an altitude of 500 meters, surrounded by steep peaks, layered green mountains, and deep valleys. The former site, the Zhou family residence, consists of five single-story wooden houses facing west, with the provisional committee established in the northernmost room.

To commemorate the establishment of the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in Zhejiang, in 1994, the Pingyang County Committee of the Communist Party of China built the Monument Pavilion of the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in Zhejiang at Yüqingyan. Xing Zitao, former head of the Secretariat of the First Provincial Congress, inscribed the pavilion name and composed couplets for its pillars.

The Site of the Former Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in Zhejiang is a cultural relics protection unit of Pingyang County. It is part of the National Red Tourism Classic Attractions — the Former Sites of the Revolutionary Base in Southern Zhejiang (Pingyang), and is also recognized as a National Patriotic Education Base.
