Pingyang Wenchang Pavilion

Pingyang Wenchang Pavilion is a cultural relic protection unit of Pingyang County.

Pingyang Wenchang Pavilion is located on Hezhu islet outside the north gate of Pingyang County, surrounded by water on all sides. In the 37th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1698), the then-county magistrate Wang Yipeng established a free school on the islet, named "Jinyin Ferry Free School," which was later discontinued. In the 2nd year of the Yongzheng reign (1724), the county magistrate Zhang Dinghong renovated it and converted it into Wenchang Pavilion, enshrining statues of Wenchang and Guan Di. It was renovated again in the 10th year of the Jiaqing reign (1805). Originally a three-bay wooden pavilion-style structure, it was rebuilt as a three-bay single-story wooden house in the early years of the Republic of China. The site currently retains stone steles, stone plinths, and other relics. The site covers an area of 650 square meters.
