Guangu

Guangu is situated between Nankou Town and the Badaling Pass. Spanning 20 kilometers, it served as an important historical route from the capital to the frontier. The valley is bordered by the Jundu Mountains and crossed by the Wenyu River, which runs from the northwest to the southeast. The area boasts many scenic spots and historic landmarks, including the Juyong Pass, the Cloud Platform, the Tomb of Zhan Tianyou, Nankou City, and the Badaling Pass Fortress. There are also legends about the Yang Family Generals.

Historically known as Jundu Xing (where "xing" refers to a mountain pass or gap), Guangu is one of the Eight Passes of the Taihang Mountains. It was a critical part of Beijing’s defense system during the Ming Dynasty, earning its name due to the numerous fortified passes in the region. Guangu also marks the geographical boundary between the Taihang and Yanshan mountain ranges, featuring diverse landforms such as faults, folds, and monoclines, making it a natural geological museum.
