The Welcoming Monk

Located at the entrance of the Lingfeng Scenic Area. Also known as Stone Buddha Rock or Old Monk Rock. This rock strikingly resembles an old monk with a bald head and draped robe, facing southeast and cupping his hands in a welcoming gesture. A Qing dynasty writer described this scene as: “Standing abruptly at the mountain pass, smiling to greet all who pass.” Viewing tip: The best spot is from the Stone Buddha Pavilion. It can also be seen quite clearly when looking southwest from the Xinzhaqiao Bridgehead.
