Shanjia Courtyard

Shanjia Courtyard, a typical northern-style quadrangle courtyard, is where the legendary story of *Red Sorghum* begins. In Mo Yan’s works, the courtyard reflects the rise and fall of a prominent family in Northeast Gaomi during the early Republic of China. It includes a Folk Museum, the Shan Family Ancestral Hall, a distillery, a clay sculpture workshop, and Jiuer’s Room.

Hua Bozi Mountain Stronghold, a filming location for the TV drama *Red Sorghum*, features sites such as Jiuer’s Martyrdom Site and the Wild Romance Spot. Visitors can experience the actual settings from the drama firsthand. The area also offers newly built attractions including a watchtower, archery range, maze in the green crops field, water play zone, and horse racing track, providing a colorful travel experience.

Shanjia Courtyard is a cultural heritage site protected by Liaocheng City.
