Xiji

Xiji (phonetic) is a canyon where the valley floor is covered with flat, gravel-free, ochre-colored rocks, and a stream meanders through like a long dragon—hence the name "Dragon Street." It is a highlight of Zhongyan. Numerous attractions featuring peculiar peaks and strange rocks line up along the stream, stretching five li from east to west, presenting an overwhelming and breathtaking natural tapestry.

The peaks and cliffs here display a myriad of postures, vividly resembling objects and figures, rivaling those of Beiyan. Moreover, the crystal-clear waters and lush greenery, along with the serene and refined atmosphere, are seldom seen elsewhere, giving it strong aesthetic inclusiveness that appeals to both refined and popular tastes. Its structural beauty is also astonishing: starting from the east, the Eight-Turn Waterfall begins with bold vigor, truly deserving the title of a "phoenix head."

The Dragon Street stretches for several li. Peaks and cliffs rise and layer on both sides. As you walk, the scenery constantly shifts, captivating your attention at every turn. Among its attractions, the Shimen Waterfall and Water Curtain Cave upstream, as well as the Eight-Turn Waterfall and Longshan Lake downstream, are the most spectacular.

The main section of Xiji (phonetic) Dragon Street, extending to Yuniu Pool, is rich in content and full of vitality, truly living up to the metaphor of a "fattened belly." Just when you think the journey has reached its end, the path twists around a corner, suddenly revealing a paradise-like Shimen scenic area reminiscent of a hidden Peach Blossom Spring. The final stroke, the "leopard tail," is nothing short of magical.
