Yandang Mountain Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination.

Yueqing was an old revolutionary base. As early as the period of the Great Revolution, the local Communist Party organization in Yueqing was established. After the full outbreak of the War of Resistance against Japan, the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China for the Fujian-Zhejiang Border Area dispatched personnel to Yueqing. In March 1938, they re-established the Yueqing Branch of the CPC in Putou Village, and in December, the Yueqing County Committee of the CPC was formed, leading the masses in the anti-Japanese salvation movement. The people of Yueqing, with their glorious revolutionary tradition, fought bravely and continuously under the leadership of the Party, making indomitable efforts that contributed to the nationwide revolution and led to the great victory of the New Democratic Revolution, composing moving and heroic chapters.

Yandang Mountain Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is located in Xianglingtou Village, Yandang Town, Yueqing City. In December 1951, the People's Government of Yueqing County began constructing the Yandang Mountain Revolutionary Martyrs' Tomb in Xianglingtou Village within the Yandang Mountain Scenic Area, which was completed in July 1953. After several renovations and expansions, the Yandang Mountain Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument was completed in April 1963, and the Yueqing Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall was built in June 1995, forming the Yandang Mountain Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery. The cemetery covers a total area of 6,600 square meters, with its main structures being the martyrs’ tomb, the martyrs’ monument, and the martyrs’ memorial hall. Flower walls, 1.5 meters high and 300 meters long, are built on the east, south, and west sides.

The entire cemetery consists of the main gate, walkways, an altar, an urn tower, a monument, a burial ground, pavilions, flower stands, and a memorial hall, among other elements. The main gate is a memorial archway-style structure with cement towering pillars, featuring cloud-patterned capitals and a blue stone lintel inscribed with “Yandang Mountain Revolutionary Martyrs’ Tomb,” written by Comrade Su Yu. The walkway is 5 meters wide and 28 meters long, leading upward via steps from the main gate directly to the front of the martyrs’ tomb and monument. The martyrs’ tomb faces south and is backed by Lion Mountain, with scenic areas on both its eastern and western sides. The burial ground is divided into a central tomb and two smaller tombs on the left and right, designed as a five-tiered arc-shaped staircase structure, covering a total area of 1,300 square meters. The entire burial area houses the remains of 429 martyrs who sacrificed their lives during various revolutionary periods. The monument stands in the center of the martyrs’ cemetery, reaching 13 meters in height. The body of the monument is made of granite, and its inscription “Yandang Mountain Revolutionary Martyrs’ Monument” was written by Comrade Zhang Aiping in 1988. The base of the monument is inlaid with six pieces of blue stone engraved with the “Inscription on the Yandang Mountain Revolutionary Martyrs’ Monument.”

The memorial hall is a two-story building designed in a traditional Chinese architectural style, with a construction area of 428 square meters. The foyer contains a preface, and on the left and right sides are calligraphy works by Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping. The four exhibition halls cover the following themes: the May Fourth Movement and the period of the Great Revolution, the Agrarian Revolutionary War period, the War of Resistance against Japan period, the Liberation War period and the period of Socialist construction, with the final section listing the names of all martyrs in the city. The earlier parts of each exhibition hall introduce the history of revolutionary struggles in Yueqing during each period, while the latter parts focus on the deeds of notable martyrs from Yueqing during those times, accompanied by a large display of revolutionary relics. On every Tomb-Sweeping Day, people from all walks of life in Yueqing, stationed troops, and relatives of the martyrs come specially to participate in commemorative activities.

Yandang Mountain Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is a Zhejiang Provincial Patriotic Education Base and a Yueqing Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
