Former Site of the Establishment of the Leping Branch of the Communist Party of China

The Former Site of the Establishment of the Leping Branch of the Communist Party of China is a classic red tourism attraction.

There are several salt fields along the coast of Leping. For a long time, salt workers in these fields suffered from oppression and exploitation by officials and salt merchants. In the 1920s, the largest salt field in Leping was the Changlin Field in Weng??, with over 200 salt workers. In the spring of 1926, the salt workers of this field, discontented with the oppression and exploitation by the officials and merchants, sought to unite to fight back and launched—activities. Later that autumn, the Wenzhou Independent Branch of the Communist Party of China dispatched three people, including Lin Qubing, to the salt field to spread revolutionary ideas. Lin Qubing, under the cover of working as a weigher at the Diutuan Salt Warehouse, founded a night school for farmers and salt workers at the Changchun Building in Weng?? Town, enrolling over 50 poor farmers and salt workers. In the winter of the same year, following directives from his superiors, Lin Qubing held a provisional party organization meeting at the Changchun Building and announced the establishment of the Leping Branch of the Communist Party of China, with Lin Qubing as its head. After its establishment, the Leping Branch actively recruited party members, further mobilized and organized the masses, promoted the “25% Rent Reduction,” and struggled against local tyrants and evil gentry. At the same time, it helped establish the Kuomintang Leping County Party Department, prepared for the arrival of the Northern Expeditionary Army, and advanced the National Revolution movement in Leping.

The Former Site of the Establishment of the Leping Branch of the Communist Party of China is located at the Changchun Building in Shuguang Village, Weng?? Town, Leping City. This building was constructed in 1887 (the 13th year of the Guangxu reign in the Qing Dynasty), featuring four rooms on the second floor and a storefront downstairs, with the characters “Changchun Building” inscribed above the door. In June 2001, the Leping Municipal Committee built the Leping Revolutionary Memorial Hall for the First and Second Revolutionary Periods here. The museum displays a bronze statue of Lin Qubing, as well as historical materials, photos, and artifacts from Leping’s First and Second Revolutionary Periods.

The Former Site of the Establishment of the Leping Branch of the Communist Party of China is a Leping Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a Leping Municipal Patriotic Education Base.
