Former Site of the Xizhuang Incident

On June 5, 1948, the Kuomintang's Zhejiang Security Fourth Regiment carried out a "pacification" campaign along the Yong-Le border. Pan Zaifa, the Party branch secretary of Ying'ao Village, was arrested and sacrificed his life. Upon hearing the news, Zheng Lun, Secretary of the Yong-Le-Huang Border Central District Committee, led the district committee staff to relocate to Houlin Village in Dianling Township that same night. The next morning, upon detecting enemy movements, he once again led everyone to evacuate, moving to Hekeng Village in Fuxi Township. After lunching in Hekeng Village, Zheng Lun and others arrived in Xizhuang Village, planning to break out of the encirclement and move on to Baixi. However, at a bend in Xizhuang Village, they encountered Kuomintang soldiers. The soldiers immediately opened fire. Zheng Lun led his team in fighting back while retreating toward the hillside. During the retreat, Zheng Lun was shot multiple times and tragically sacrificed. The Kuomintang soldiers brutally severed his head. The next day, Zheng Lun’s head was hung on the city gate of Dajing Town as a warning — an event later known as the “Xizhuang Incident.”

The Former Site of the Xizhuang Incident is located in Xizhuang Village, Fuxi Township, Yueqing City. The site where Zheng Lun was sacrificed is at Siqiu in Xizhuang Village.
