Former Site of the Gu Tongkeng Emergency Meeting

The Former Site of the Gu Tongkeng Emergency Meeting is a classic red tourism attraction.

During the War of Resistance Against Japan, Gutongkeng Village was a major base of operations for the CCP Zhe-Min Border Area Committee and served as a reliable rear area for the border region’s Party organization. In January 1944, Zhao Chuanbin, former Secretary of the CCP Qing-Jing-Li County Committee, defected to the enemy, completely exposing the border region’s Party organization and creating a critical situation. In April of the same year, Zheng Danfu, Secretary of the CCP Zhe-Min Border Area Committee, held an emergency meeting in Gutongkeng with over 20 cadres from the border region. The meeting further implemented the “concealment and consolidation” policy, dispersing and hiding district-level personnel, thereby effectively preserving the revolutionary strength of the Party in the border region. The Gu Tongkeng Emergency Meeting was a crucial gathering that determined the survival of the border region’s cadres.

The Former Site of the Gu Tongkeng Emergency Meeting is located in Gutongkeng Village, Songxi Township, Taishun County. Originally a wooden residential building, it had collapsed due to the passage of time. On July 1, 2001, the Taishun County Party History Research Office and the Songxi Township Government established a memorial monument near the site of the meeting to support the development of the “Red Army Road” and to preserve Party history resources.
