Tomb of Liu Fu

The Tomb of Liu Fu is a cultural relic protection unit of Yueqing City.

The Tomb of Liu Fu is located in Lingtou Village, Shifan Town, Yueqing City. It is a cenotaph, facing east and situated west, designed in the shape of an armchair, with three terraces, covering an area of over 560 square meters.

Liu Fu (1217–1276), courtesy name Shengbo, art name Mengchuan, was a native of Daqiaotou Village, Shifan, Yueqing. In his early years, he studied at a Buddhist temple in Yandang Mountain. In the tenth year of the Chunyou era (1250), he entered the Imperial Academy and was known for his moral uprightness, earning him the title among his contemporaries as one of the "Six Gentlemen." In the third year of the Jingding era (1262), he passed the imperial examination and rose through the ranks to become Minister of Personnel. In the second year of the Deyou era (1276), when the Yuan army entered Lin'an, Chen Yizhong, Lu Xiufu, and Zhang Shijie plotted to restore the Song dynasty and, along with Princes Guang and Yi, fled from Wenzhou by sea. They invited Liu Fu to join their government, so he took his family and followed the princes to Guang. He fell ill and died in Luofu. His wife, Lady Lin, and their entire family committed suicide by throwing themselves into the sea. His surviving works include the 10-volume Collected Works of Mengchuan.
