Tomb of Wu Du

The Tomb of Wu Du is a cultural relic protection unit of Yueqing City.

The Tomb of Wu Du is located at the foot of Anshan Hill in Zhongshi Village, Panshi Town, Yueqing City. Covering an area of 1,410 square meters, it is built in the shape of an armchair and divided into six terraces. Originally, there were a Shengzhi Gate and a Tomb Path Gate in front of the tomb, both of which have been destroyed. The current tomb was reconstructed in 1978. Within the terraces are two stone statues of attendants, one civil official statue, one stone horse, one pair of stone sheep, and one pair of stone tigers. Among them, the stone attendants are clad in armor, with their hands resting on swords, thick eyebrows, and wide-open eyes, appearing very majestic. The stone horse has a lean and muscular build, with its saddle, stirrups, bridle, mane, and tail all exquisitely carved. This collection of stone tomb figures is a rare and exquisite example of Song Dynasty stone carving art.

Wu Du, also known as Zhu Song, was a successful candidate in the imperial examination in the first year of the Kaixi era (1205) during the Song Dynasty and served as Minister of Rites.
