Shangshu Mansion Archway

Shangshu Mansion Archway is a cultural heritage site protected by Yueqing City.

Shangshu Mansion Archway is located in Nange Village, Xianxi Town, Yueqing City. In the 12th year of the Chenghua reign during the Ming Dynasty (1476), Zhang Lun retired from office and returned to his hometown, living here in his later years. After his death, he was posthumously honored as the Minister of Rites. The residence faces south and originally consisted of a three-courtyard wooden structure. Today, the entrance hall, main house, and two wing rooms remain. The entrance hall is three bays wide and two bays deep, featuring a hanging gable roof in a three-mountain style, with a golden plaque inscribed with “Shangshu Mansion” hanging in the central bay. The front and rear courtyards of the archway are paved with pebble patterns, and a brick screen wall stands opposite the entrance.

Nange Village: With a history of over a thousand years, Nange is a settlement of the Zhang clan and the hometown of Zhang Lun, an upright official of the Ming Dynasty. It preserves historic structures such as a memorial archway complex, Shangshu Mansion, Duzhong Hall, and tombs. In 2001, it was listed as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Nange, located in the northern part of Yandang Mountain, got its name because it faces Beige remotely. It consists of three administrative villages: Shangjie Village, Xiajie Village, and Guomuchang Village. To the west is Xianshengmen, to the south is Phoenix Mountain, and to the north is Nange Stream. The area features overlapping green mountains, towering peaks, and majestic streams.
