Shouxian Valley

Shouxian Valley Scenic Area is a provincial-level scenic spot, located in Shijingli Village, Wangzhai Town, in the southwestern part of Wuyi County, about 20 kilometers from downtown Wuyi. It features a canyon landscape that transitions from danxia landform to volcanic rock formations.

Legend has it that this was the hometown of the Southern Pole Star God of Longevity. Where immortals dwell, the scenery must be exceptional — a testament to the area’s breathtaking beauty. No wonder ancient poets marveled: “The sky soars to the ninth heaven, the earth is beautiful at Dalaikou, with green hills and clear waters, and the ancient well acclaimed as the finest.”

There are many beautiful and touching legends about the origin of Shouxian Valley. One tells of Qinglong, a general in the heavenly court, who fell in love with Jinfeng, a maid in the palace, defying celestial rules. In pursuit of happiness, the two fled to this canyon and hid in a cave, living a blissful life. This cave is now known as “Dragon and Phoenix Abode,” where the stone walls still bear the images of a dragon and a phoenix gazing affectionately at each other.
