Qingfeng Fort

The Yanke Qingfeng Fort Scenic Area, known as a “paradise on earth,” was famous in both the Wuyi and Chuzhou prefectures as early as the Song Dynasty. It is 15 kilometers from the county seat of Wuyi and just one kilometer south of the renowned Taiji Astrological Village, Yuyuan, while to the north lies the “Ten-Mile Gallery” Liuxiulong.

Introduction

Qingfeng Fort captivates visitors with its spectacular Danxia landforms, quaint and primitive mountain villages and strongholds, and well-preserved natural ecology. The area has long been a strategic military location, with numerous remnants of warfare from various dynasties. The inhabitants of the stronghold are descendants of the “Heaven and Earth Society,” an anti-Qing and pro-Ming organization from the Qing Dynasty, and their traditional medicine and martial arts are famed far and wide.

The Danxia landforms within the scenic area surpass those of Wuyishan and Fangyan, and the “Flying Bridge Six Caves” represent the largest cluster of connected caves among China’s Danxia formations.

Within Qingfeng Fort, there are the Hu Gong Temple built during the Song Dynasty and the thousand-year-old Hui Li Temple. There is also the Lansheng Pavilion, which offers a panoramic view of the “Ten-Mile Gallery Liuxiulong,” and the Feiyun Pavilion, built against the cliff.

Other sites include the Taiping Cave where the Taiping Rebellion forces forged weapons, the Red Army Cave that once served as the headquarters of the Western Battalion of the Red Army, pristine forests with cascading waterfalls and the Water Music Leisure Area.
