Little Huangshan Scenic Area

The Little Huangshan Scenic Area is located in the southeastern part of Wuyi County, Zhejiang Province, 48 kilometers from the county seat, with convenient transportation and a total area of 5 square kilometers. The scenic area is known for its "Four Wonders" — uniquely shaped pines, peculiar rocks, sea of clouds, and waterfalls. Attractions such as the Tianchi Lake, suspended coffins, and Little Three Gorges further enhance its beauty. Nestled in the mountains is an ancient She ethnic village with a long history and strong ethnic charm, achieving a perfect combination of natural and cultural landscapes. It is a great destination for leisure and vacation.

The She ethnic group is an important member of China's fifty-six ethnic groups and one of the main ethnic minorities in Zhejiang Province. The hardworking and simple She people have developed their unique She culture through a long history of production and life. She mountain songs are a vibrant part of She folk culture.

To explore and preserve this traditional ethnic cultural heritage, in 1994, four She ethnic townships — Laozhu, Lixin, Banqiao, and Liucheng — from three adjacent counties and districts in Lishui and Jinhua regions jointly organized the She Ethnic Traditional Third Month (Third Day of the Third Lunar Month) Singing Festival. It was decided to hold the festival annually on a rotating basis. So far, eight editions of the festival have been held. The festival has played a positive role in promoting traditional ethnic culture, enhancing friendship and unity among ethnic townships, raising the profile of ethnic regions, and accelerating economic development. It has achieved the goal of using culture as a platform and economy as the performance, and has become a distinctive ethnic cultural event in southern Zhejiang.
