Jinhua Prefecture City God Temple

The Jinhua Prefecture City God Temple is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Zhejiang Province.

The Jinhua Prefecture City God Temple is located in Mingyue Lane, downtown Jinhua. It was originally built in the first year of the Zhiping era during the Northern Song Dynasty (1064 AD) and was reconstructed during the Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty. The temple faces south and features a courtyard-style architectural complex. It covers a land area of 3,610 square meters and has a built-up area of 2,096 square meters. The first section along the central axis is a five-bay-wide main gate, with the Civil and Military Officials’ Halls and the Lu Ban Immortal Temple built parallel to the right side of the gate. The second section is a stage, which is convex in shape, with three side rooms on each side and a hip-and-gable roof stage in the protruding part, used later for musicians and performers’ makeup. The third section is the main hall (a two-story building), also five bays wide. A spacious courtyard lies between the stage and the main hall. The beams, spandrels, and brackets of the entire structure feature exquisite carvings, demonstrating significant historical and artistic value.
