The China Lake Pen Museum is designated as a patriotic education base.

Lake pens, along with Huizhou ink, Xuan paper, and Duan inkstones, are known as the "Four Treasures of the Study" and are an important symbol of the long and splendid Chinese civilization.

The China Lake Pen Museum has a wide range of social educational functions. Its exhibits showcase one aspect of the inheritance and development of Chinese culture, and the display of famous calligraphy and paintings by renowned artists throughout history makes it a learning and practice classroom for art lovers.

The China Lake Pen Museum is located at No. 258 Lianhuazhuang Road, Huzhou City. It was opened in September 2001. In 2004, it was named a "Zhejiang Provincial Patriotic Education Base." The building's exterior features a hip-and-gable roof with rolled eaves, upturned corners, and pavilions, corridors, towers, and terraces all designed in traditional Chinese architectural style.

The Lake Pen Museum is a regional cultural museum that integrates the display of historical artifacts related to lake pens, the showcasing of their crafting processes, exhibitions of premium products, and sales. Its main sections include: the Hall of Lake Pen Origins, which displays historical artifacts of lake pens; the Craftsmanship Hall, which presents the traditional production process of lake pens with on-site demonstrations by skilled pen makers; and the Exhibition Hall, which showcases over a hundred varieties of high-quality lake pens produced by renowned manufacturers such as Wang Yipin Pen Shop and Shanlian Lake Pen Factory.

The Celebrity Hall of Lake Pens displays famous lake pens used by Mao Zedong, as well as more than 80 calligraphy and painting works by celebrities, dignitaries, and calligraphers praising the lake pen.

The China Lake Pen Museum has a total construction area of 2,130 square meters. It consists of exhibition units such as A Brief History of Lake Pens, Lake Pen Crafting Techniques, Lake Pen Customs, Lake Pen Makers and Literary Figures, Lake Pens and Huzhou Painting & Calligraphy Culture, as well as the Brush Bond Hall and an outdoor leisure area. The museum displays over 300 cultural relics and materials related to lake pen culture, including ivory brushes from the Ming and Qing dynasties, the He Lianqing brush from the Qing imperial collection, and pens used by Chinese leaders such as Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Deng Xiaoping, and Jiang Zemin, as well as by renowned modern calligraphers, painters, and scholars such as Zhang Daqian, Wu Changshuo, Shen Yinmo, and Zhao Puchu. It is currently the only museum in China that systematically, comprehensively, and in detail introduces the culture of lake pens.

Leveraging its own resource advantages, the China Lake Pen Museum actively collaborates with Huzhou Evening News, Huzhou Wednesday, Xinfeng Primary School, and Huzhou Normal University to establish programs such as a Junior Journalists' School and a calligraphy and fine arts teaching base. It organizes activities such as art appreciation and competitions, thereby institutionalizing cultural platforms and regularizing events. The museum receives around 20,000 visitors annually, over 70% of whom are admitted free of charge, playing an important role in promoting patriotic education and preserving and passing on lake pen culture.
