Mount Daochang

Mount Daochang, located to the south of Huzhou City, was formerly known as Yunfeng and is the tail end of the Tianmu Mountain range, with its highest peak reaching an elevation of 210.7 meters. Historically, the “Morning Clearing on Mount Daochang” was ranked first among the “Eight Scenic Spots of Wuxing.”

According to historical records: Mount Daochang originally had various pavilions including Yanggao, Yiwǎn, Wanghu, Xiaoyue, Aishan, Fuhu, Ganquan, Taibai, and Miaomiao, each with distinct appearances and unique charm. By the Qing Dynasty, nine of these mountain pavilions still remained, but they gradually fell into disrepair over time.

Nowadays, only the Guanghao Pavilion remains halfway up Mount Daochang. It was built in the 22nd year of the Republic of China (1933) and is the latest-built pavilion on the mountain. At the mountaintop stands the Duobao Pagoda. In the foothills near the summit, there is also the Wanshou Chan Temple, which has significant influence within the Buddhist communities of Japan and Southeast Asian countries.
