The Tomb of Shen Jiaben

The Tomb of Shen Jiaben is a cultural relic protection unit of Huzhou City.

The Tomb of Shen Jiaben is located on the northern slope of Zhushan Mountain in Shangjie Natural Village, Miaoxi Administrative Village, Miaoxi Town, Wuxing District. Dating back to the Republic of China era, it is classified as an important modern historical site.

In January 2003, the Tomb of Shen Jiaben was designated as a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit.

Shen Jiaben (1840–1913), styled Zichun and also known by the alias Jizhai, was a native of Wuxing (now Huzhou). His father, Bingying, was a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations (jinshi) and once served as an assistant minister in the Ministry of Punishments and as prefect of Anshun in Guizhou. In 1862, during the Qing Dynasty's Tongzhi reign, Shen Jiaben passed the imperial examination at the provincial level and worked as a principal drafter in the Zhili (now Beijing) and Shaanxi divisions of the Ministry of Punishments, where he earned the recognition of Pan Wenqin, Minister of Punishments. In 1883, during the Guangxu reign, he became a jinshi and served as chief compiler of the Fengtian (now Shenyang) division, simultaneously holding positions as an acting officer in the Autumn Review Office and an assistant in the Bureau of Penal Regulations. He was later promoted to associate manager and managerial roles. In the 19th year of Guangxu, he was appointed prefect of Tianjin.
