Songfeng Pavilion

Located about a hundred meters from the tomb of Qu Shisi, this pavilion was built in recent years. It derives its name “Songfeng” (Pine Wind) from the couplet on the stone memorial archway of Qu’s tomb: “Ancient valley winds echo through a thousand ravines; cold pool reflections catch the shadows of ten thousand pine branches.” The name commemorates the noble character and integrity of the national hero Qu. The pavilion’s plaque was inscribed by the late centenarian calligrapher and painter Zhu

Zhan. The courtyard couplet “Majestic cliffs send clouds surging eastward; sunlit rocks sweep waters flowing westward” was written by the renowned calligrapher and painter Xie Zhiliu. Xie’s couplet depicts the majestic and beautiful scenery visible from the pavilion: two mountains embracing each other as surging clouds fly eastward, and the waterfall of Fushui Stream cascades with sparkling droplets flowing in from the west.
