Jiangsu Agricultural Machinery Museum

The Jiangsu Agricultural Machinery Museum is located in the Qianjian Warehouse of the former Zhenze Town Grain Management Office within the ancient town of Zhenze, facing the Ciyun Temple Pagoda, Zhenze’s most renowned attraction, across the river. The museum covers a total floor area of approximately 960 square meters.

China is an ancient civilization with a long history, and the invention, manufacturing, and use of agricultural production and tools date back to ancient times. The Taihu Lake basin in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River is one of the earliest regions in China to use farming tools. Based on cultural site excavations, remnants such as rice indicate that as early as 7,000 years ago, ancestors were already using agricultural implements like stone plows, stone shovels, wooden rakes (lei), and bone spades (si). These primitive farming tools evolved over time through the long-term labor and production practices of early people, progressing successively through the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, and Mechanical Age. The development of agriculture greatly improved labor efficiency and quality of life, while also driving the advancement of society and civilization.

The exhibition hall is divided into the Primitive Hall, Ancient Hall, Textile Hall, and Modern Hall. A large number of physical objects, as well as photos and textual materials, showcase the distinctive farming and silk textile industries of the Taihu Lake basin.
