The Silk Expo Park is located in Shengze Town, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province — the only water town among China’s Four Great Silk Capitals. It neighbors two major hubs of China’s land and maritime Silk Roads: Taicang Port, from which Zheng He set sail on his voyages to the Western Seas, and the Grand Canal. As early as the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty, Shengze ranked first among the Four Great Silk Capitals in both silk production and trade volume. Economic prosperity enriched the lives of local residents and gave rise to a splendid culture intertwined with silk. In Shengze, whether in historical architecture or modern life, in current affairs or daily conversations, elements and culture of silk permeate everything.

The construction of the Silk Expo Park aims to vividly and comprehensively showcase the historical development of a typical key Jiangnan silk town against the grand backdrop of China’s splendid silk culture. The epic records and documents of Shengze represent, in spatial terms, the economic miracle created by the entire Jiangnan silk industry, while the rise and fall of the local sericulture and silk industry reflect, in temporal terms, the broader historical traces of China’s economic and social changes. This is the core and essence that the Silk Expo Park seeks to express culturally, and its outward manifestations will be concentrated across the park’s various sections and functions. Through the effective integration of resources from all sectors of society, the park is designed to become a comprehensive thematic landscape area integrating tourism, education, leisure, creativity, and commerce.

Invested in and built by Jiangsu Huajia Group, the China Silk Cultural Tourism Scenic Area — the Silk Expo Park — is located in Shengze Town, Wujiang City, one of China’s “Four Great Silk Capitals.” The Silk Expo Park is the only national-level industrial tourism destination in China’s silk industry. It is divided into three major zones, eight functional areas, and seventeen projects, including an ecological mulberry forest and Hundred Mulberry Garden, silk R&D center, ecological leisure experience center, technical training base, and brand creative design park, striving to build a green ecological park in the Shengze area. The total project investment is estimated at 600 million yuan, aiming to restore and elevate China’s silk culture while highlighting the unique appeal of the country’s only silk industrial tourism destination.

The scenic area covers a total of 237 acres and centers around the history of mulberry cultivation, silkworm rearing, and silk production. Throughout the park, visitors can explore the historical origins of both the overland and maritime Silk Roads, and experience the profound charm of agrarian silk culture, silk culture, and Jiangnan water town culture at every turn.

Zhenze Town: This Jiangnan water town — Zhenze — is located in the southwestern part of Wujiang City, Jiangsu Province, bordering Zhejiang Province. Historically known as the “Head of Wu and Tail of Yue,” it lies 90 kilometers east of Shanghai and 54 kilometers north of Suzhou. The town is traversed by National Highway 318 and the Grand Canal, offering highly convenient land and water transportation. Zhenze covers a total area of 57 square kilometers, including a town area of 3.93 square kilometers and nearly 40,000 mu of arable land. The town has a total population of over 50,000.
