Mirror Lake Park is situated in the northern part of Shengze Town, Wujiang City, Jiangsu Province. It lies adjacent to Provincial Highway 227 and the exit of the Suzhou–Jiaxing–Hangzhou Expressway to the east, with Bus No. 206 providing direct access from the town center. Established in 1999 and officially opened in September 2002, the 530-acre park features water bodies covering two-fifths of its area, making it one of the larger wetland parks in the Suzhou region. The park emphasizes landscaping with plants, boasting picturesque scenery with clear waters, lush trees, and green lawns. Facilities within the park include tea houses and snack bars, a children’s playground, shallow water beaches, a landscape garden, a boat dock, a horse riding field, a dance hall, antique-style wedding photography services, a small zoo, and a summer bathing beach.

The park is functionally divided into two main areas: the lakeside leisure zone and the ecological sightseeing area. The former is located in the eastern and southern parts of the park, lined with rows of weeping willows along the lake, complemented by well-placed pavilions and corridors. Curved bridges and lotus flowers create a delightful scene. Three islands are built in the lake, connected by bridges and causeways, forming a string of pearls that can be reached either by leisurely walking or by boat. The “Mirror Lake Hall,” built close to the water and situated among the three islands, offers visitors an ideal spot to rest, enjoy tea, and take in the scenery.

The ecological sightseeing area combines aesthetics with practicality and has received widespread acclaim for its thoughtful design, earning recognition as an outstanding rural greening demonstration project in Suzhou. It features pear, peach, plum, loquat, grape, and melon gardens, offering a continuous display of flowers and fruits throughout the seasons. Interspersed among them are osmanthus, camphor trees, purple bamboo, and magnolia, which visitors can admire or even pick and taste fresh. The fishing area is set within a tranquil spot enclosed by deep reeds and sparse willows, attracting fewer visitors and making it a perfect place for fishing and recreation.

The earthen mounds created from excavated lake soil in both the leisure and ecological zones create undulating terrain with varied elevations. From the higher points, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the park’s beautiful scenery. The overall design of Mirror Lake Park embodies the refined elegance characteristic of traditional Jiangnan gardens while also showcasing modern, natural, leisure-oriented, and recreational landscape features. The park has now become one of the largest and most diverse leisure and entertainment venues along the Suzhou–Jiaxing–Hangzhou corridor.
