Puzhe Bridge

Puzhe Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Suzhou City.

Commonly known as Wangjia Bridge, Puzhe Bridge in Songling Town is located in Zhigang Village, Songling Town. It is a single-arch bridge stretching from east to west over the Puzhe Port, hence its name. The bridge is 13.5 meters long, 2.2 meters wide at the abutment, and 1.85 meters wide at the top. The current bridge deck has no stone railings. Except for the bridge steps and some of the dragon ribs and partition walls, most of the bridge is built with bluestone. Construction began in the fifth month of the 34th year of the Jiajing reign in the Ming Dynasty (1555), with the inscription “Jiajing Year, Yimao Month, Fifth Month” engraved on the arch stones. It was renovated in the third year of the Kangxi reign in the Qing Dynasty (1664). A major repair was carried out in October 1994. In September 1997, it was listed as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit of Wujiang.
