Hepu Bridge

The Hepu Bridge in Bache, Songling Town, also commonly known as Zhujia Bridge, runs from north to south across Nan Port, connecting Central Street and Nanhao Street. It is a single-span beam bridge, measuring 17.8 meters in length, 3.5 meters in width, and 3.33 meters in arch height. The bridge deck is 4.25 meters long, with 16 steps on the southern side and 14 steps on the northern side. The main components of the bridge are made of bluestone, and the bridge is inscribed with the three characters “Hepu Bridge” (合浦桥). The bridge deck is equipped with granite railings, which feature carvings of floral patterns. Originally, the railing pillars were adorned with four uniquely shaped stone lions, all of which were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution for being considered part of the “Four Olds.” The bridge was built in the fifth year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1740) and was reconstructed in the 24th year of the Guangxu reign (1898). There are no bridge couplets. In December 2008, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit of Wujiang City.
