Qiuxi Bridge

Commonly known as Jiguo Bridge, it is located west of Xizha, Li Li Town, Wujiang City, near the Xizha exit of the north-south Shih River, spanning the city’s north river.

It was initially built by locals in the early Qing Dynasty. In the 13th year of the Yongzheng reign (1735), Taoist priest Bu Douwen raised funds to rebuild it with stone. On July 29, 1994, it was listed as a cultural relic control unit of Wujiang City. In 1998, it was renovated together with the Xihu Taoist Temple.

This is a three-arch granite beam bridge oriented east-west. It is 17.4 meters long and 2.1 meters wide, with the central arch standing 1.75 meters high and spanning 17.4 meters. At the bridge’s center is a depiction of the Wheel of Dharma. The sides are made of strip stones, with 25 rectangular stone slabs laid in the middle. Whether by design or coincidence, the bridge surface is uneven, producing a “jiguo” (creaking) sound as people walk across. Locals call it the “never-stopping ‘jiguo’ bridge,” commonly known as Jiguo Bridge.

Qiuhu Qiuyue (Autumn Moon over Qiuhu Lake) was a scenic spot for locals in Li Li to admire the moon and stroll during the Ming and Qing dynasties, and is one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Lichuan.

Fenhu High-Tech Zone (Li Li Town): Located 30 kilometers southeast of Wujiang County, Li Li Town is a well-preserved example of a classic Jiangnan water town. The town follows a “one river, two streets” layout, with most of the surviving buildings along both banks being two-story structures from the Ming and Qing periods, featuring contiguous storefronts. Another distinctive feature of the ancient town is its long, continuous revetments, all constructed from interlocking stone blocks. Even after hundreds of years, they remain neat and solid. Along the revetments are embedded more than 300 stone railings, among which the exquisitely crafted elephant trunk railings resemble seals crafted by master seal engravers—small yet brimming with charm.
