Tingzi Bridge

Tingzi Bridge, also known as Wang'en Bridge, is located in Beizha of Lili Town, Wujiang District, spanning the northern section of the north-south oriented Shih River, over Li Hua Street and Xi Xin Street.

In the fifth year of the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty (1526), the Taoist priest Wang Guangshu first built the bridge. In the old days, there were two pavilions on the bridge, hence the name "Tingzi" (Pavilion) Bridge. In the fifth year of the Longqing era (1571), local residents Zhou Shan and Wu Bangxiang from the same county carried out repairs. In the 53rd year of the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty (1714), local resident Chen Shihua renovated it. In the second year of the Xianfeng era (1852), the local residents collectively funded its reconstruction. In 1983, the People's Government of Lili Town carried out maintenance work. In January 2005, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit of Wujiang District along with the revetments of Lili Shih River and other ancient bridges.

A single-arch stone bridge oriented east-west. The total length is 22 meters, with a central width of 2.55 meters, an eastern end width of 2.7 meters, and a western end width of 2.85 meters. The arch rise is 4.1 meters, and the span is 7.4 meters. There are 23 stone steps at the eastern end and 21 at the western end. The center of the bridge features a Buddhist "samsara" design. The main materials used in the bridge’s construction include Wukang stone, bluestone, and granite. On the western side of the bridge stands a stone stele titled “Record of the Reconstruction of Wanshan Bridge,” which is 1.70 meters tall and 0.85 meters wide. It has broken into two pieces, the inscriptions are blurred and no longer legible, and there are no records of it in various historical texts.

Fenhu High-Tech Zone (Lili Town): Lili Town is located 30 kilometers southeast of Wujiang County and is a well-preserved, typical ancient town in the Jiangnan region. The town features a river flanked by two streets, with most of the preserved buildings along the banks being two-story structures from the Ming and Qing dynasties, their storefronts lined up continuously. Another distinctive feature of the ancient town is its long revetment, all built from Jieji stone. After hundreds of years, it remains neat and solid. Embedded along the revetment are more than 300 stone railings, among which the exquisitely crafted elephant trunk railings resemble seals crafted by artisans—small in size yet rich in charm.
