Hongfu Bridge
Also known as Langdai Bridge, it is located in Longjiangqiao Village, Zhenze Town, Wujiang District, connecting Hejiabang and Langjia Port. The original construction date is unknown, but it was rebuilt in the 16th year of the Jiaqing reign (1811) and the 1st year of the Xuantong reign (1909) during the Qing Dynasty. It is a three-span beam bridge oriented east-west. The bridge is 20.4 meters long and 1.6 meters wide, with the central span reaching a height of 3.4 meters and a span of 5.2 meters, while the two side spans each have a span of 3.8 meters. The central pier columns are each formed by three vertical stone slabs measuring 0.5 meters in width, 0.3 meters in thickness, and 4 meters in length, set on underwater foundations. Atop the columns lies a capstone that is 0.5 meters wide, 0.3 meters thick, and 2.6 meters long, forming the pier structure. The central span’s bridge deck consists of three stone slabs, each 5.5 meters long, 0.5 meters wide, and 0.3 meters thick, laid atop the pier columns. The bridge deck bears inscriptions reading “Hongfu Bridge” on both sides. The side spans’ decks are each made up of three stone slabs, 4.1 meters long, 0.5 meters wide, and 0.3 meters thick, laid on the pier columns. The side piers are constructed from blue stone blocks arranged in parallel, with each pier column standing 3.2 meters tall. The bridge railing is made of stone slabs 0.24 meters wide, 0.2 meters high, and 5.5 meters long, with both ends built up 0.3 meters to form a 0.5-meter-high parapet. Both side spans feature the same railing construction, with eight balusters placed along the railings. The bridge approaches on both sides are paved with full stone steps—nine steps on the north side and nine on the south side—each step 0.35 meters wide and 0.12 meters high. The bridge deck, railing, steps, and pier columns are all made of granite. Parts of the bridge railing are damaged; in the 1990s, the damaged sections were repaired using red bricks. The bridge approaches on both slopes are overlaid with cement floorboards to facilitate bicycle and motorcycle passage. Each side of the pier columns is inscribed with a couplet. The southern couplet reads: “Gazing north to Dongting Lake, where hills and waters loom faintly; linking east to Zhenze, embraced by winding waters.” The northern couplet reads: “Wild geese return in formation, ascending to the other shore; duck heads bob together, ensuring safe passage.”
