Changchun Tang Bridge

Also known as Shaonian Bridge, it is located in Guanqiao Village, Zhenze Town, Wujiang District, connecting Yangjiabang and Nanfang Village.

The original construction date is unknown, but it was rebuilt in the third year of the Xuantong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1911). On July 29, 1994, it was listed as a cultural relic under control by Wujiang District. This is a three-span beam-type stone bridge oriented east-west. It has a total length of 28.2 meters, a central width of 1.7 meters, an abutment width of 1.7 meters, a central span height of 4.4 meters, a central span width of 5.7 meters, and both side spans are 4.45 meters wide. The main components of the bridge are granite and bluestone. The central span is supported by three vertical stone piers, each measuring 4.5 meters long, 0.55 meters wide, and 0.3 meters thick. The pier caps are 2.7 meters long, 0.5 meters wide, and 0.3 meters thick. The central span bridge deck consists of three stone slabs, each 6 meters long, 0.55 meters wide, and 0.3 meters thick, laid on the piers. The side spans are similarly constructed with three stone slabs each, 5 meters long, 0.55 meters wide, and 0.3 meters thick. The central span railing is made of stone slabs 6 meters long, 0.25 meters wide, and 0.28 meters thick, resting on 0.12-meter-high square stones to form a 0.4-meter-high railing that also serves as seating. The side spans have identical railing structures. The bridge approaches on both sides are paved with whole stone steps—10 steps on the east and west sides, each 0.32 meters wide and 0.12 meters high, with a ramp length of 2.4 meters. The names “Changchun Tang Bridge” are inscribed on both sides of the central span. Each of the two central columns features a couplet. The southern couplet reads: “Elders and youth dwell together, joyfully building beams to aid all in crossing; young and old work in unison, steadfastly constructing the path to broad passage.” The northern couplet reads: “The evening star shines over the southern embankment, where the water of Lake Shuize rushes forth; spring rain arches the rainbow’s waist as peaks of Dongting rise to the north.”
