Qubo Bridge in Qidu

Located at Shuangdangdou, Wuyue Village, Qidu Town, Wujiang District, spanning Shuangdang Port.

Its original construction date is unknown, but it was rebuilt in the 29th year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1903). On July 29, 1994, it was listed as a cultural relic control unit of Wujiang District.

This is a beam-style single-arch bridge running from east to west. It has a total length of 17.95 meters, a width of 1.74 meters, an arch height of 3.5 meters, and a span of 5.5 meters. The bridge deck is paved with two large, thick granite slabs; the wing walls are made of bluestone, and the rest is constructed from granite. Each end of the wing walls has a square drainage hole underneath, which increases water discharge during floods and reduces the impact of flowing water on the bridge. The western abutment and bridge deck are well-preserved, while on the southern side of the eastern abutment, a tree has grown, the upper stone steps have arched upward, the lower stone steps are missing and have been replaced with cement slabs. Due to long-term neglect, the southern side of the eastern abutment has severely collapsed. Each side of the bridge is inscribed with a couplet. The southern-facing couplet reads: “Piled stones form the beam, all benefit from safe crossing; returning waves become a mirror, all celebrate the clear flow.” The northern-facing couplet reads: “Originating from the Five Lakes, it stretches northward; waters flow through the twin ponds, winding south.”
