Ningqing Hall
Ningqing Hall is a cultural relics protection unit of Suzhou City.
Ningqing Hall is located at No. 9 Sanguantang Lane, Bota Street, Zhenze Town, Wujiang District, dating back to the late Qing Dynasty and early Republican period.
Built in the late Qing Dynasty by silk merchant Zhu Jifen, “Ningqing Hall” was the residence of silk merchant Zhu Jifen.
Ningqing Hall faces south and has three courtyards, all two-story buildings. “Ningqing Hall,” the residence of silk merchant Zhu Jifen.
The first courtyard features a wall gate that is 8.6 meters wide and 4.8 meters deep, with a double-step raised-beam structure. The central section has a stone-framed gate, and the main room is separated from the sides by brick walls to create passageways.
The second courtyard is the main hall, measuring 10.4 meters wide and 10.1 meters deep. Originally used as a silk business office, it features four-bay flat beams with carved floral designs, elevated from the eave corridor, and a double-step structure at the rear. The west side of the courtyard has side rooms, while the east side has a side corridor. A staircase is located at the back corridor of the hall, along with a tea pavilion, flanked by two crab-eye courtyards.
The third courtyard contains the inner hall, which is 10.7 meters wide and 8.5 meters deep, featuring four-bay flat beams with carved floral designs and front and rear double-step beams. The courtyard has side chambers on the east and west. “Ningqing Hall,” the residence of silk merchant Zhu Jifen.
The beams and brackets of the second and third courtyards are intricately carved with floral patterns, and the eave brackets feature theatrical scenes, all remarkably detailed and rich in content.
In December 2008, Ningqing Hall was designated as a cultural relics protection unit of Wujiang City.
