Jing Sheng Hall

Jing Sheng Hall is a Suzhou Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Jing Sheng Hall is located at No. 46 Diding Street, Zhenze Town, Wujiang District, dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

Jing Sheng Hall is situated at No. 1 Siyixuan Lane on Diding Street in Zhenze Town, facing south and adjacent to ?Tang River along Diding Street. Built in the late Qing Dynasty, it was the home of silk merchant Tang Laichen.

Jing Sheng Hall features an east-four-west-five layout. The first section consists of street-front shops, measuring five bays wide (17.8 meters) and 6.4 meters deep.

Starting from the second section, the structure is enclosed by high walls and courtyards, and is divided into eastern and western sections from the second bay onward. The western section’s last four bays all have double-step raised-beam gable-and-hip roofs. The eastern section’s second bay is a gate tower, with a stone-framed gate built into the southern wall.

The third bay functions as the main hall, with wing rooms on both the eastern and western sides of the courtyard.

The fourth bay serves as the inner hall, featuring a boat-roofed ceiling in the front corridor. The eastern and western sides of the courtyard house wing rooms, while the southern side has a brick-carved gate tower. The central southern bay has six-panel lattice windows, and the southern corner bay and wing rooms have panelled short windows.

In 2008, Jing Sheng Hall was listed as a Wujiang Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
