Jiale Hall

Jiale Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Suzhou City.

Jiale Hall, also known as Dayuanli or the Tonglu Zhou Residence, was built during the Qing Dynasty and is located at No. 90-116, Minzhu Street, Tonglu Community, Taoyuan Town, Wujiang District, Suzhou City.

The entire residence is designed in the "Zouma Lou" (horse-riding building) style, featuring an inner courtyard surrounded by interconnected buildings on all sides. The eastern and western buildings are respectively named "Jiale Hall" and "Yuanxiangju," both spanning five bays totaling 17.60 meters in width and 6.40 meters in depth, with wing rooms on both the southern and northern sides. The buildings feature floor-length windows, and the doors, windows, and beams are adorned with exquisite carvings. Currently, the residence is privately owned by descendants of the Zhou family and is well preserved.

In 2009, Jiale Hall was designated as part of the fifth batch of cultural relic protection units of Wujiang City by the municipal government. In 2012, due to administrative division changes, it was reclassified as a cultural relic protection unit of Suzhou City.
