Yangchun Garden

Yangchun Garden is a cultural relic protection unit of Yangzhou City.

Originally a gathering place where the Qing Dynasty poet Wang Shizhen and his literary circle composed poetry, the original site was west of the Rainbow Bridge. The current garden was first built in the late Qing and early Republican period, bordered by clear flowing water to the south and a low ridge to the north. It features structures such as the Water Ink Pavilion, Moon-Questioning Mountain House, and Fragrant Shadow Corridor. "Yangchun" means spring outings, referring to leisurely excursions in spring, especially by couples. The long, narrow Slender West Lake flows past the southern edge of Yangchun Garden, with rustic cottages and waterside pavilions built along the lake, offering a simple and elegant charm. Leaning on the railing to enjoy the view, you can see ripples on the lake surface. The garden also displays tens of thousands of Yangzhou-style potted plants, thousands of colorful goldfish, as well as various rare island birds and flowers, adding even more vibrancy to the scenery. Here, the garden and teahouse are integrated, allowing visitors to stroll the grounds, admire the views, sip tea, and enjoy light snacks—experiencing both the local folk customs and the natural charm of traditional elegance. Dining/Accommodation/Shopping: The Yangchun Teahouse within Yangchun Garden is a famous teahouse in Yangzhou. It is said to have been originally established to provide tea for Emperor Qianlong during his southern inspection tours. Steamed dumplings cost 8 yuan each, tea is 4 yuan per cup, and signature dishes include Kuilongzhu tea, Four-Colored Pot Cake, Crab Roe Soup Dumplings, and Dazhu Gansi (shredded dried tofu in superior soup). Transportation: Take bus No. 5 from Fengle Lower Street bus stop west of Royal Wharf, or take bus No. 3 from the Western Bus Station and get off at the Trust Company stop.
