The Twenty-Four Bridges in Slender West Lake is a cultural heritage site protected by Yangzhou City.

“Blue hills fade far away, water stretches endless and wide. Autumn’s end in the southland, grass has not yet withered. On moonlit Twenty-Four Bridges, where is the fair one teaching flute?” This timeless quatrain left to us by the Tang Dynasty poet Du Mu has, for centuries, captivated countless poets and artists with the Twenty-Four Bridges’ delicate beauty, ethereal ambiance, and romantic charm.

The bridge is a single-arch stone structure built entirely from white marble. It is 24 meters long and 2.4 meters wide, with 12 steps at each end and 24 white marble carved pillars on either side, each 2.4 meters high and wide. There are 24 steps, all corresponding with the number “twenty-four.” The bridge is adorned with carvings of the moon, adding an elegant and graceful touch. To the east of the bridge lies a yellow-stone rockery built against the wall, while to the west is the Xichun Terrace, both recreating the poetic imagery described in the Tang Dynasty poem. The scenic area covers approximately 7 hectares and is a collection of classical garden architectural complexes. The entire area plays a transitional role in expressing the poetic scene of “flowering willows along both causeways rooted in the water, pavilions and towers stretching all the way to the mountain.”

From the Twenty-Four Bridges, you can see the Xichun Terrace, topped with green glazed tiles and accented with bright red doors and windows—striking in color yet retaining an antique elegance. In addition to the Xichun Terrace, the Wangchun Tower and the Linglong Flower Realm are also nearby attractions around the Twenty-Four Bridges.
