At Slender West Lake, there is a fishing terrace that was once said to be a place for playing traditional string and bamboo instruments. However, it became a spot for fishing leisure after Emperor Qianlong spontaneously decided to rest and fish here. Yet, the charm of the Fishing Terrace goes far beyond that.

The Fishing Terrace at Slender West Lake is a model of Chinese pavilion architecture, perfectly showcasing the art of framed scenery. The terrace is surrounded by water on three sides and connected to Little Jinshan Hill only by a long causeway. Standing at a 60-degree angle inside the pavilion, you can see the undulating reflection of the Five Pavilion Bridge through the round archway to the north, the majestic and elegant White Pagoda through the archway to the south, and the beautiful view of Fu Zhuang to the east. The Fishing Terrace “frames” the essence of Slender West Lake, perfectly living up to its name “Three Stars in Tribute,” and is an ingeniously designed structure.
