It is now a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit, located within Daming Temple in the city. Xiong Chengji (1887-1910) was a Chinese democratic revolutionary, also known as Chengji, with the courtesy name Weigen. He was from Ganquan (Yangzhou), Jiangsu. He once joined the Restoration Society, organized the Anqing Uprising in 1908 which failed, then went to Japan and joined the Tongmenghui. In 1910 (the second year of the Xuantong reign), he attempted to assassinate Navy Minister Zaixun in Harbin but failed. He was arrested due to betrayal by an informant and was executed in Jilin. In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), members of the Tongmenghui buried his remains here. The tomb is situated in a pine forest. The mound was originally an earthen burial and had a gravestone in front inscribed with “Tomb of Lord Weigen Xiong” in regular script. In 1987, it was renovated—the mound was replaced with a cement one, and a new gravestone was erected, inscribed with “Tomb of Martyr Xiong Chengji” in clerical script. Due to the expansion of the eastern garden of Daming Temple, the tomb’s surroundings urgently need to be improved.

Xiong Chengji (1887–1910), also known as Chengji, with the courtesy name Weigen or alternatively Weigeng, was from Yangzhou. He was a martyr of the Tongmenghui. As a child, he loved reading military treatises and discussing military affairs, admiring Yue Fei and Shi Kefa, and inspiring himself to achieve merit and serve the country. In the summer of the 30th year of the Guangxu reign (1904), he was admitted to the Anhui Training Army Military Preparatory School. During his studies, he read books such as "Awakening from a Dream," "The Revolutionary Army," and "Alarm Bell for the World." He successively joined revolutionary groups such as the “Fellow Students Association” and the “Yuewang Society,” initiated by Xu Xilin and Bai Wenwei.
