The Sun Family Residence in Guazhou is a cultural heritage conservation unit of Yangzhou City.

The Sun Family Residence in Guazhou

A residential building from the Republican era. The house faces east and sits west, consisting of two groups covering an area of approximately 2,300 square meters. The group on the west side of the street is divided into north and south axes, with a fire lane in between. The north axis has two sections front and back, laid out as "three bright and four hidden" rooms. The south axis has three sections front and back, all with a width of three bays. The group on the east side of the street consists of a single residence that is three bays wide and five rafters deep. The architectural framework and layout are intact, with inner corridors and doors/windows and their latticework well preserved. The entire building complex is relatively large in scale and represents the characteristics of residential architecture in the riverfront area of Yangzhou. The original owner was a member of the Sun family, who were engaged in businesses such as dry tobacco, freight depots, and soy sauce workshops.
