Wuxi’s famous scenic spot, United Jia Garden, is situated on the banks of Taihu Lake and surrounded by mountains on three sides. It is a unique cultural garden themed around Taiwanese scenery and Mazu culture. Through the warmth and openness of Taihu Lake’s vast waters, it conveys the heartfelt desire of people across the strait for “tranquil seas and peaceful reunification,” reflecting the shared kinship of “originating from the same root, forever one family.”

United Jia Garden is a landscape garden with the theme of “longing for reunification and promoting unity.” It neighbors attractions along Taihu Lake such as “Shanshui City” and “Film and TV City,” and faces the renowned Lingshan Scenic Area across the water. In its creative concept, United Jia Garden emphasizes cultural elements. The main entrance gate is the majestic Golden Gate Hall—the “Golden Gate” being a crucial portal connecting Taiwan and the mainland across the Taiwan Strait. The name “Golden Gate Hall” carries profound meaning. The garden’s memorial archway is an elegant, classic dragon-and-phoenix style pavilion with traditional upturned eaves, and it is the largest of its kind in the Jiangnan region.

Walking up stone steps through dense woods to reach the mountaintop, you’ll come face to face with the towering “Chinese Reunification Altar.” The bronze sculpture of the Chinese Reunification Altar features four colossal dragons coiled around four heaven-reaching pillars, standing 16.8 meters tall and using over 80 tons of bronze. The altar is inlaid with five classic stone carvings of dragons from different dynasties at its center, surrounded by carvings of the Bagua (Eight Trigrams) and the twelve zodiac animals. The Tianhou Palace is a landmark at the highest point of Meiliang Peak, and the terrace extends from the palace structure, offering a panoramic view of the entire garden and the surrounding lake and mountain scenery.
