Wuxi Xuelangshan Ecological Landscape Park

Wuxi Xuelangshan Ecological Landscape Park is a National AAA-level Tourist Attraction.

Located on Yuanci Road, Xuelang Subdistrict, Wuxi, Xuelangshan Ecological Landscape Park borders Taihu Lake to the south and lies adjacent to Meiliang Lake Scenic Area to the west. Spanning 5,000 mu, it was designated as a National AAA-level Tourist Attraction in 2006. Comprising ecological landscapes and historical-cultural attractions, it is a scenic area that integrates tourism, leisure, vacationing, fitness, and education.

Jiang Zhongzhen, the first top imperial scholar in Wuxi’s history, studied in the Tan Yun Pavilion of Xuelang Temple during his childhood and later taught students at his former residence at the foot of the mountain. As a result, the Song Dynasty academy here is called Jiangzi Academy. The academy houses a unique Imperial Examination Culture Museum and Tea Culture Museum in Wuxi. Mr. Chiang Kai-shek and Madame Soong Mei-ling visited Xuelangshan three times, ascending Jiangzi Pavilion to pay homage to their fellow clansman, Jiang Zhongzhen. During the prosperous Kangxi-Qianlong era, Xuelangshan tea was designated as a tribute tea, alongside the water from Badelongtan Spring, both esteemed as imperial offerings. Emperor Qianlong once praised it as having “a green color that is not murky, an aroma that is not overpowering, a taste that is rich but not harsh, and leaves that are small yet do not float on the surface.” The Imperial Tea House atop the mountain is a landmark structure, offering panoramic views of the vast Taihu Lake and sparkling Li Lake. On the eastern slope lies Hengshan Temple, an ancient temple from the Song Dynasty known for its grand scale and flourishing incense offerings—a renowned religious site. Visitors can enjoy spring outings, flower viewing, and tea picking; summer tea tasting and cooling off; autumn chrysanthemum appreciation and citrus harvesting; and winter snow walks among plum blossoms—offering urban dwellers a refreshing escape and a taste of a “paradise on earth.”

The ecological landscape area comprises scenic zones such as Xiangyang Orchard, Lanshan Reflections on the Lake, Xuelang Tribute Tea, and Xuelang Maple Viewing; the historical-cultural landscape area includes the Imperial Tea House, Jiangzi Academy, Scholar’s Path, Immortal’s Cave, Dongshan Zen Monastery, Rushu Zen Monastery, and Hengshan Temple. Attractions such as the Hundred Longevity Pavilion, Ten Thousand Blessings Pavilion, Han Yue Pavilion, Ten Thousand Bamboo Pavilion, Beacon Tower, along with numerous stone carvings, cliff inscriptions, and steles, captivate visitors and leave them lingering in awe.

Transportation: Within Wuxi City, take Bus No. 8 or 68 and get off at Jinxiquiao Station; take Bus No. 9 and get off at Xiangyang Station.

Self-driving Route: Take the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway — exit at Wuxi East — head west on Taihu Avenue — turn south onto Qingqi Road — continue south on Li Lake Avenue — then head west on Shanshui East Road.
